MightyRecruiterThe O*Net (Occupational Information Network) is a government-run database that is the primary source for information on any particular job in the United States. The Employment and Training Administration of the United States Department of Labor is the body that both runs and sponsors this database. Before 1999, the source for American occupational information was the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT). However, with the quick proliferation of the internet throughout the country, and the speed and accessibility that it presented, the DOT was rendered obsolete, thus ushering in the age of the O*Net which is still in use to this day.
