According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 “requires some federal contractors and all federal grantees to agree that they will provide drug-free workplaces as a precondition of receiving a contract or grant form from a federal agency.â€
Each Federal contract and grant has slightly different requirements, so the Act varies on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, the requirements for the Act depend on whether the grantee or contractor is an organization or an individual, and the Act only covers the part of the company that receives the grant, as opposed to the entire company.
